The Galápagos Islands offer the most extraordinary introduction to some of the most unique and bizarre wildlife. The islands came to the world’s attention following a visit by Charles Darwin, whose visit proved to be significant for the study of evolution.
The islands have now been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and 90% of the land area and 100% of the surrounding ocean are now part of the Galápagos National Park. The total lack of fear displayed by the birds and reptiles enables visitors to see and study nature in a unique environment.
